LIFE AS A STUDENT | UNIVERSITY SURVIVAL GUIDE

I remember this time last year I was all over blogs and YouTube looking at  tips for university students and watching university experience videos. Now that my first year of university is over I feel like I am qualified to give advice to freshers starting in September.

Socialize. This is something I wish I did more in my first year. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a really chatty person and I love meeting new people. For some reason I found it really hard to socialize and I was really guarded. I joined the dance society and didn't really fit in or start making friends until December/January and I only really talk to 2 people in my seminar group! Don't be scared to go up to people and introduce yourself. I remember in freshers week people would randomly coming up to me and introduce themselves. So that's a tip for you guys and definitely one for myself going into second year.

Manage Your Time. I struggled with this quite a lot. I have a very hands on course, a lot of it involves spending hours in the newsroom; trying to find people to interview, going to court and on top of that I of course had coursework deadlines. I was also on the first dance team and trained 4 times a week, when it got closer to performances  rehearsal could go up to 6 times a week so I was always busy. Not managing my time meant I was starting coursework 4/5 days before it was due which I promise you is not fun. I've done a blog post on how to keep organised which you can read here

You're Not Going To Be Friends With Everyone. You are going to meet so many different people ( you will come across a couple of bell ends! ), you're not going to get along with them all. Some of the people you don't get along with might even be your flatmates. Or I could be wrong and you might end up being best friends with everyone you meet! I didn't get along with 2 of my flatmates and let's just say the thought of never seeing them again fills me with joy :). But I get along so well with my other 4 flatmates that the other 2 don't even matter, I'm living with them for the next year and I miss them so much too!!

Keep Active. I know that a lot of people feel that they put on weight when they go to university. I personally didn't take notice if I put weight on or not but every time I came back home to London my mum would say I look like I've been starving myself. I kept active through dance and right at the end of the year I starting going to the gym.

Manage Your Money. Let's just say half way through first term and second term my bank balance was £0.00 :)

Go to Freshers Fair. How can you say no to freebies!

Join a society. I joined the dance society and I must say it was the best decision ever. I only went to the dance auditions because my flatmate wanted me to go with her and I ended up getting on first team! Being part of dance I've had the opportunity to perform in the Capital FM arena, had the opportunity to go to Liverpool, participate in so many competitions and of course met some beautiful, talented people.

Have fun. It's such an amazing experience and it's going to go by so fast. You don't want to look back and regret anything. Work hard (very hard) and play harder!!

Have you got any more tips for students? If your starting university in September what are you most worried about?

FASHION | JULY WISHLIST

JULY WISHLIST

Hey my lovelies, so I promised I would blog every weekday and this week I have failed! I've been really busy and had a lot going on so I haven't had the time to blog, but I'm back! I had a job interview this week and I got the job so I'm really happy, I'm working at a fashion retail store and I'm really excited because not only do I love their clothes, I get to dress up for work! Now that I have a job I'm hoping to finally get myself a better camera, the camera I use now is actually quite good for the price. The quality of the pictures are really good when someone actually holds the camera and takes a picture but not very good when they're taken on self timer.
Having a job also means new clothes, I've been stalking Missguided's website and I am in love with everything. The first thing that caught my eye were the beige dungarees, I plan on doing a Kylie Jenner inspired look book for my YouTube channel and those dungarees look very similar to ones Kylie has worn. I also really love the floral jumpsuit, I could wear it to work and would look shamazing so I will definitely be purchasing those 2.
What's your favorite item on the wishlist?

D.I.Y | MY NEW SHORTS PART 2

Last week I showed you guys how I made my green adidas tracksuit bottoms into high waisted shorts which you can see here. I've got another pair of adidas tracksuit bottoms which I wanted to make into shorts. Unfortunately they didn't turn out as nice as the green ones. Perhaps because these ones are much tighter and a different material. Nevertheless I may not wear them out but I would definetly wear them to the gym or chilling around the house.

LET'S TALK FASHION | IS IT ACCEPTABLE TO WEAR WHITE AS A WEDDING GUEST

I feel like I already have my wedding planned, the ceremony will be held outside on a sunny afternoon in July. The guests will sit on white chairs facing a floral arch with blossom flowers going along the aisle. My bridesmaids will be in lilac, silk, floor length dresses with their hair in cute up-do's. I 'll walk down the aisle to Kissing You by Desiree, my hair will be in a sleek pony tail with simple make up wearing a beautiful white strapless mermaid dress, a sweetheart neckline with a long trail. I want dove's too but is that a bit too much?!

Unfortunately I'm only 19 (I also need to find someone that will actually marry me) and I'm pretty sure it'll be quite a while before I walk down the aisle but in the meantime I love looking at sites like Lover.ly for inspiration on dresses and weddings. I love going to weddings and dressing up for them but should it be a ''rule'' that only the bride can wear white? If you were invited to a wedding and found a beautiful white dress would you wear it?

When I think of weddings I think of pastel colours and the colour white so when putting together an outfit for a wedding I feel like I need to incorporate white somehow; whether its a pair of white heels, a white bag or a white dress. Personally if I found a white, lace midi dress with spaghetti straps I would wear it, I would also probably wear it with a pair of white heels and a pastel clutch bag, I really don't think it would take any attention away from the bride. Don't you think a guest wearing a neon pink dress would really take attention away from the bride?!

However, if the shoe was on the other foot and I was the bride and a guest turned up to my wedding in a white dress... yes there might be a problem! I wouldn't throw a tantrum or say anything but a wedding day is meant to be one of the best days of a girls life, and if we're honest weddings are mostly about the bride (sorry grooms). So when it comes to being a guest at a wedding I would say just stick with white accessories. You could perhaps wear white heels, a white bag with a blue skater dress and leave the white dress to the beautiful bride.

What do you think about wedding guests wearing white to a wedding? Let me know what you think.

Definitely check out Lover.ly's website they have amazing dresses and some really beautiful pictures, great for inspiration.

I hope you enjoyed it

D.I.Y | MY NEW HIGH WAISTED SHORTS

This Friday I'm going to a beach party with a couple of friends and I need an outfit!
I had a vision of me wearing baggy shorts and a bikini top, I was even considering actually ordering a pair.

But what do I do? I take a pair of tracksuit bottoms and make them into shorts. I've had these tracksuit bottoms and their matching jacket since I was about 12. About 3 years I accidentally got red paint on them and I haven't worn them since. It's a mens tracksuit and extremely big on me so they come up high waisted. I didn't do anything technical or hard, I only used a pair of scissors and an iron to make sure the bottom stays folded.

I really love them and I know I'll definitely be wearing them a lot over summer, some of these pictures were taken on my iPhone so sorry about the quality.

Sneak peak of my outfit for the beach party

Before throwing your trousers or tracksuit bottoms out why not try make them into shorts.

So I've set myself a challenge for this month and that is to take more pictures. Life's going so fast and I don't wanna not have back to look at and remind me of my memories.
